I would not have survived my midlife transformation if it were not for the shared wisdom of some wonderful authors. Below is a list of a few of my favorites that I highly recommend as you navigate your own life changes. Filled with guidance and food for thought, I’ve read them all many times and will probably continue to do so. Each read offers an opportunity for deeper understanding and broadened perspective.

I hold workshops on several of these books via the Aging Abundantly Book Club on Facebook. If you would like to be included in future discussions, drop me an email AgingAbundantly@gmail.com and note “My Favorite Books Discussion” in the memo. If you would like to join the Aging Abundantly Book Club on Facebook we try to read one book a month. It’s provides a wonderful opportunity to get reading ideas, talk about books and connect with other readers.

A word about DR. CLARISSA PINKOLA ESTES – I love everything she’s ever done. I highly recommend you listen to her audios, as her voice and telling are more than half of what she has to say. She’s an incredible story teller with a wonderful voice and presentation. You will learn and grow even when you have no idea what she’s talking about! At least I did! A couple of my favorites:

&Seeing in the Dark: Myths and Stories to Reclaim the Buried, Knowing Woman

Warming the Stone Child

The Dangerous Old Woman (Myths and Stories of the Wise Woman Archetype)

Mother Night: Myths, Stories, and Teachings for Learning to See in the Dark

The Joyous Body: Myths and Stories of the Wise Woman Archetype (The Dangerous Old Woman)

Theatre of the Imagination, Vol. 1

Caroline Myss is a medical intuitive and I have learned so much from her. She is not for everyone, however. If you’ve read and enjoyed the books I’ve listed so far, I’d recommend giving her a try.

Anatomy of the Spirit: The Seven Stages of Power and Healing

Sacred Contracts: Awakening Your Divine Potential

If you have experienced trauma in your life, this audio with Caroline Myss and James Findley can provide profound insight and awareness to your healing journey.

Transforming Trauma

Along the lines of Gift from the Sea by Anne Morrow Lindbergh this is a great reflective read. See more in my post Reclaiming Purpose.
